Ball™ technology:

Conventional cylinder vacuums with fixed wheels or castors can be awkward – heavy to pull, head the wrong way and collide with obstacles. With the latest Ball™ technology, DC47 turns on the spot. It has a central steering mechanism for more accurate steering. The pivot point is located near the center of the machine, enabling it to make tighter turning circles and more easily follow the user’s path.The ball also houses many of the main vacuum components, including the motor, polycarbonate air ducts and a 16.4 ft power cord. This lowers the center of gravity, making the machine easy to control. 

Carbon fiber floor tool:

The brush bars of most vacuums only have nylon bristles to clean different surfaces. These are not as effective on hard floors, where fine dust can be left behind. The Dyson Carbon fiber floor tool has both nylon bristles and brushes made from pure carbon fiber – selected for its anti-static properties. The carbon fiber brushes reduce static build-up on hard floors to remove fine dust, and the stiff nylon bristles remove ground-in dirt from carpets.

Tangle-free Turbine tool:

The Dyson Tangle-free Turbine tool is the only turbine tool that doesn’t tangle. There’s no brush bar for hair to wrap around. It uses counter-rotating heads with brushes to remove hair and dirt from carpets and upholstery and releases it straight into the bin. The flexible heads and articulating base plate ensure that the brushes maintain constant contact with a surface – no matter how uneven. The heads are positioned so the brushes reach to the front and side of the tool, drawing in hair and dirt from all directions.

Hygienic and quick to empty:

Emptying the bin on a Dyson vacuum is quick and hygienic. Just press the button to release the dirt. The bin is clear, so you can see when it needs emptying – and how much dust, dirt and pet hair the machine has captured. Dyson vacuums were the first to have clear bins – despite market researchers insisting it was a bad idea. Now clear bins are everywhere (though not all are made from the same ABS polycarbonate as riot shields, like Dyson bins).
