This is a lovely antique 830 S E Norwegian Soji Brooch Pin. This is a pre-1920 Solje and an antique. They were given at births, weddings and other reasons. Many had lots of embellishments on them. I can’t find one as pretty as this with Mother Of Pearl dangling in the middle. I myself have owned this for many years, and wore it on jackets. I always got so many compliments on this lovely Solji. This would make a cherished something old for a new bride!
Most Solje jewelry is hallmarked. Many of the pieces are marked 830s, or 830s Norway which is a hallmark for the metal content (similar to 925 for sterling silver). The 800 numbers are more common in Europe. Each region of Norway has its own style of Solje. Found in Denmark and Norway. See all pictures
